Episode 202: Sutter's Mill

  • Sutter’s Mill Cocktail
    • two pineapple wedges
    • 3/4 oz Honey Syrup
    • 2 oz bourbon
    • Freshly grated cinnamon for garnish
  • Directions
    • Combine one pineapple wedge, lemon juice and honey syrup into a shaker
    • muddle until pineapple is broken up.
    • Add bourbon
    • Fill shaker with ice
    • Shake and strain into a rocks glass
    • Add second pineapple wedge as garnish, grated cinnamon for extra credit.
  • Honey Syrup
    • 1 cup of honey
    • 1/3 cup of hot water
  • Directions
    • Mix honey and water together
    • Be sure honey is completely dissolved

Episode 201 - The Old Fashioned

  • The Old Fashioned (spirit forward version)
    • 3 oz. of bourbon
    • 1 tsp of 2:1 simple syrup
    • two dashes of bitters
    • lemon twist
  • Directions:
    • Use a rocks glass
    • Add syrup and bitters, bourbon and finally the ice cube.
    • Stir to mix.

    • Again, start with an old fashioned glass
    • 1 tsp granulated sugar
    • 5/7 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters
    • 2 maraschino cherries
    • 3 oz bourbon
    • dash of maraschino cherry juice
    • orange zest
  • Directions:
    • Start with a rocks glass
    • Add granulated sugar and bitters and the cherries and their juice
    • Muddle all ingredients together.
    • Add bourbon and the ice to your rocks glass

  • Jen's Wu's Whole Enchilada Bloody Maria (difficulty: you'll need a kitchen)
    • 2oz Tequila
    • 4 oz tomato Juice (Knudsen, if you can find it)
    • .5 oz lemon juice
    • 4 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
    • 4 dashes Tabasco Sauce
    • .5 - 1 tbsp. prepared horseradish, to taste
    • 1 pinch celery salt
    • 1-2 pinch ground black pepper
    • 1 pinch sugar
    • 1 tbsp of green olive water brine
    • 2-3 green olives
    • 1-2 smoky pickled okras (Rik's Smokra is very nice and can be found at Whole Foods)
    • 1 tsp smoky pickled okra juice
  • Eric's Bloody Mary Recipe (difficulty: goo goo gaa gaa)
    • 2 oz. Vodka
    • Fill glass with store bought Bloody Mary Mix, leaving a little room at the top
  • IBA Bloody Mary (difficulty: Moderate)
    • 4.5 cl Vodka
    • 9 cl Tomato Juice
    • 1.5 cl Lemon Juice
    • 2 or 3 dashes of Worcestershire Sauce

The Quaff Episode 009 - Hoppy

  • Hoppy
    • 2 oz. (or so) of Japanese shochu
    • 1 Bottle of Hoppy
  • Directions
    • Mix both ingredients in a frosty mug.
      • Technique - Upend Hoppy bottle so that the top is underneath the surface of the Shochu. Raise the bottle as the beer mug fills up. Pour faster for more foam, pour slower for less.
